In case of emergency problems or maintenance of cable installations, the measuring bus can offer:
Cable fault tracing
Carried out in two stages:
- Pre-localisation with known methods like ARM-ICE-DEC with level 0-32kV.
- Location in the geography using listening devices and marking the fault location.
Cable fault tracing in water
Carried out in two stages:
- Pre-localisation with portable equipment using methods such as ARM-ICE-DEC with level: 0-32kV.
- Site localisation in combination with deployment and underwater listening equipment and marking of the fault location using the boat’s site localisation equipment.
Sheath testing
Test level on request, otherwise level 2kV, 5kV or 10kV is used depending on sheath type. A record of the measurement is drawn up.
Mantle troubleshooting
Carried out in two stages:
- Pre-localisation with measuring bridge for length to the fault.
- Then, site localisation is performed in the geography using the step voltage method and marking of the fault location.
PD measurement Cable diagnostics
We can measure PD ‘Partial Discharge’ using two different methods:
- DAC (‘Damped AC’): The length of cable we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the test cable and the voltage level at which the measurement is to be made. Our equipment has 60kV 40-475Hz.
- SLOPE (PD measurement during VLF-CR measurement with the possibility to change the voltage level): How long cables we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the test cable and the voltage level at which the measurement is to be performed. Our equipment has 60kV. This method cannot handle as long test cables as DAC.
VLF testing
We perform the test with VLF (‘Very Low Frequency’) – CR (cosine rectangular voltage) 0.1Hz.
The test indicates the majority of possible errors or weaknesses. A tough test. Only a few cables that pass the test have cable faults after commissioning.
The test can be carried out using two different methods:
- VLF-CR test 1.7-3xUn0 depending on installation ‘old/new. Time 15min or 60min How long cables we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the cable and the voltage level at which the test is to be performed. Our equipment has 60kV.
- SLOPE ‘ PD measurement during VLF-CR measurement with the possibility to change the voltage level’. 15min or 60min. How long cables we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the cable and the voltage level at which the test is to be performed. Our equipment has 60kV.
Voltage test
We can perform the test with two different voltages:
- AC test 0-50kV. Test level and time on request. Example for testing switchgear after erection as required by many suppliers.
DC test 0-80kV. Test level and time on request. Example for testing old paper insulated cables.
Insulation testing
Test level on request, otherwise level 1kV is used for cables below 1kV and 5kV for cables above 1kV.
Laying of cables
We can carry out cable replacement in:
- Ground with different frequencies for different installations and conditions (50 Hz) –
(Radio 10kHz-22.7kHz) selectable frequencies 16Hz-200kHz. Conductive or inductive. - Water usually in combination with troubleshooting, but also for other work such as dredging, moving jetties, etc..
Cable disconnection
Identifying a specific cable among several others in a shaft, so that the work is safe and no incident or accident occurs. Marking the cable according to the customer’s wishes.
Screen control in cable network
We can carry out a check of the screen and the external return circuit of the earth fault current “Ymer testing”.”
The test is often done together with insulation/sheath testing and is compiled on a protocol.
Must be done before commissioning a new cable or when splicing an existing cable and protocol is carried out
Earth roof measurement
We can carry out earth roof measurement of new or existing earth roofs, but need different information depending on the earth roof är:
- New. Then the individual and resulting value is needed as well as how the earth roof is constructed, etc. so it can be documented in the protocol.
- Existing. Then previous protocols are needed so it can be compared with if something has changed. New protocol is drawn up.
When measuring on existing and the value does not meet the requirements, we can improve the existing or make a new one. By using the service below.
Ground/soil resistivity measurement
When installing a new earth roof, we can help measure the soil resistivity so that the installation can be made easier:
- To calculate amount/area/length/number to get the desired ohm value on the earth roof.
- The location of the earth roof.
