Measurement Technology & Diagnostics
We are a growing company with staff who have long and broad experience of our services at voltage levels from 0.4-400kV.
In case of urgent problems or maintenance of cable installations, the measuring bus can offer:
Cable fault measuring
Performed in two steps:
- Pre-location using known methods such as ARM-ICE-DEC with level 0-32kV.
- Location in geography using listening equipment and marking the fault location.Kabelfelsökning i vatten
Cable fault measuring in water
Performed in two steps:
- Pre-location with portable equipment using methods such as ARM-ICE-DEC with level: 0-32kV.
- Location in combination with setting out and underwater listening equipment and marking the fault location using the boat’s location equipment.
Sheath testing
Test level on request, otherwise level 2kV, 5kV or 10kV is used depending on sheath type. A protocol of the measurement is drawn up.
Sheath testing
Performed in two steps:
- Pre-location with measuring bridge for length to the fault.
- Then location is carried out in the geography using the step voltage method and marking of the fault location.
PD Measurement Cable Diagnostics
We can measure PD “Partial Discharge” using two different methods:
- DAC (“Damped AC”): The length of cables we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the test cable and the voltage level at which the measurement is to be performed. Our equipment has 60kV 40-475Hz.
- SLOPE (PD measurement during VLF-CR measurement with the possibility of changing the voltage level): How long cables we can measure is determined by the capacitance of the test cable and what voltage level the measurement is to be performed with. Our equipment has 60kV. This method cannot handle test cables as long as DAC.
VLF testing
We perform the test with VLF (“Very Low Frequency”) – CR (cosine rectangular voltage) 0.1Hz.
The test indicates most of the possible errors or weaknesses. A tough test. Only a few cables that have passed the test will have cable defects after commissioning.
The test can be performed using two different methods:
- VLF-CR testing 1.7-3xUn0 depending on the installation “old/new. Time 15min or 60min How long cables we can measure is determined by the cable’s capacitance and what voltage level the test is to be performed with. Our equipment has 60kV.
- SLOPE “PD measurement during VLF-CR measurement with the possibility of changing the voltage level”. 15min or 60min. How long cables we can measure is determined by the cable capacitance and what voltage level the test is to be performed with. Our equipment has 60kV.
Voltage testing
We can perform the test with two different voltages:
- AC testing 0-50kV. Test level and time on request. Example for testing switchgear after installation as required by many suppliers.
- DC testing 0-80kV. Test level time on request. Example for testing old paper insulated cables.Isolationsprovning
Test level on request, otherwise level 1kV is used for cables below 1kV and 5kV for cables above 1kV. A protocol of the measurement is drawn up.
Cable Laying
We can perform cable laying in:
- Ground with different frequencies for different facilities and conditions. (50 Hz) –
(Radio 10kHz-22.7kHz) selectable frequencies 16Hz-200kHz. Conductive or inductive. - Water is usually used in combination with fault measuring, but also in other work such as dredging, moving docks, etc.Kabelurskiljning
Identify a specific cable among several others in a shaft, so that the work is safe and no incidents or accidents occur. Mark the cable with the customer’s wishes.
Screen inspection in cable networks
We can perform screening and ground fault current external return circuit inspection “Ymer testing”
The test is often done together with insulation/sheath testing and is compiled in a protocol.
Must be done before commissioning a new cable or when re-splicing an existing cable and a protocol must be kept
Grounding Measurement
We can perform grounding measurements on new or existing grounding but require different information depending on whether the grounding is:
- New. Then the individual and resulting value is needed as well as how the earthworks are constructed, etc. so that it can be documented in the protocol.
- Existing. Then previous protocols are needed so that it is possible to compare whether anything has changed. A new protocol is drawn up.
Soil/earth resistivity measurement
When installing new earthing, we can help by measuring the soil resistivity to make the installation easier:
- To calculate the quantity/area/length/number to get the desired ohm value of the grounding.
- The location of the earthworks.
